“Winter Work” is a program created by ENABLE Fedcap, to provide Pre-employment Transition Services to students with disabilities between the ages of 14 through 21 during the school year. Included in our Winter Work program:
Workplace readiness training taught through interactive activities and our “GET Ready” computer modules
Career exploration assessments and counseling
A paid work-based internship in the community for each student
Participation in a Networking Event and mock interview practice with volunteer professionals who come to the program site
A graduation ceremony prior to the students beginning their internship
Summer Work
“Summer Work” is our summer internship program providing 25+ students with disabilities between the ages of 14-21 with paid internships in the community to obtain work-based learning firsthand. Examples of type of work/places that the students experienced:
Assisted patients and PT's in a Physical Therapist office
Created databases and coded in a real estate office
Prepped food in a small restaurant
Learned to prep, bake, and decorate cakes and cupcakes in a bakery
Cultivated experience in hospitality at the front desk in a hotel
Worked as an administrative assistant learning office work at a Foundation
